The RAGflow Moodle Suite is now available: five plugins that connect Moodle’s native AI subsystem to a self-hosted RAGflow instance — fully integrated into Moodle. No intermediary portal, no extra service providers, no complicated settings to use it: an administrator connects the suite to RAGflow once, centrally, and from then on the AI is simply there for teachers and learners.
Instead of a generic chatbot, you get AI that is grounded in your own documents — and backs every statement with a source. Because you run RAGflow yourself, your data and your choice of AI models stay under your control.
What the suite does:
- Fully inside Moodle — no external portal, no extra software for users; configured once, centrally.
- An AI tutor for every course — answers from the course materials, with sources.
- Semantic document search — finds documents by meaning, without hallucinating.
- Understands scans, images & tables — OCR, layout and image understanding, not just plain text.
- A site-wide help desk — a help chat in the user menu, with memory.
- Grounded, cited answers — anchored in your content, in the user’s language.
- Your data, your models — self-hosted, GDPR-friendly, no vendor lock-in.
Who is it for? Teachers with a lot of material who want to make it accessible through AI; anyone building new learning content faster (e.g. generating quiz questions straight from existing documents); learners juggling many courses who otherwise spend too long hunting for the right file; and organisations with knowledge scattered across wikis, glossaries and Moodle forums.
Four of the five plugins are free and open-source (GPLv3). The optional usage dashboard supports admins with setup and day-to-day operation (status, usage, cost) and is the one paid component (via the Moodle Marketplace) — it stays GPLv3 too, and buyers receive the complete source; the fee covers access, updates and support.
Requirements: Moodle 5.0–5.2 and a reachable RAGflow instance that you host yourself.
